Ever since I got into professional-level photography over a decade ago, I’ve dreamt of the day I’d have a studio space to work with. Although I love shooting outside in our beautiful state, studio photography is a completely different experience & challenge for me as an artist, as the lighting and composition is completely under my control, starting from a completely blank slate.

Recently, I had the opportunity to do a maternity shoot with Leah, a mother expecting her third child. 

The week prior to this shoot, Leah and I did a shoot with her kids, which produced some excellent images, but was admittedly a bit chaotic with the two youngsters distracted by all the interesting sites and things in the greenbelt. So, we decided to schedule another shoot, but this time,  just her and I. 

This shoot occurred in Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. We walked along the creekside and found a few awesome settings. Leah was also comfortable walking into the cold water, where we produced a few outstanding images of her in the middle of the river. Both of the gowns she wore for the shoot were purchased from Amazon.com. 

The shoot produced so many great images, it was difficult to pick the best! Below are a few of my early favorites:
